Aligning Software to Hardware Portfolio Through Market Differentiation

MIXLINE for Logitech

Challenge:

Logitech wanted to build audio mixing software to pair with microphone releases. The market had multiple solutions for gamers and streamers, but all were difficult to configure often taking many hours or days to set up. As a result many people were afraid to touch the settings fearing they could never get it right again. All of the competitor software was hindered by how Windows OS managed audio. Windows wanted complete control, but offered limited capabilities.

My Approach:

Through customer discovery interviews and market research, I discovered beginner gamers and streamers were being underserved by the competitor’s software.

Solution:

Partnering with design and engineering, we developed an intuitive solution that captured audio inputs before Windows Sound Mixer, giving us complete control to route and mix game, voice, and music audio to multiple outputs.

Results:

Solved a decade-long Windows OS audio mixing problem, helping Logitech capture an underserved market that aligned with their Fall 2023 microphone releases.

Systems Impact:

By understanding the ecosystem in which we were releasing software, I was able to identify market differentiating opportunities to enable Logitech to capture an underserved market while also aligning the software with the microphone hardware portfolio strategy.
